Hebrew School

Sunday 10-12:30

Imagine a Hebrew School where kids don't want to miss a day.  They come in with a smile and leave humming a new Hebrew song.  Imagine a child who feels the warmth and spirit of Judaism and then imagine the pride of his parents.

Welcome to Chabad of Summerlin Hebrew School, a most innovative place.  At our Hebrew School, families of all affiliations and backgrounds feel comfortable and welcomed.  Our school enjoys a well-earned reputation as a trendsetter in creative Jewish education for children of all ages.  Classes take place in our beautiful Community Center.  The Center provides large classrooms and spacious grounds to accompany its state of the art curriculum, geared to the modern Jewish child.

Chabad of Summerlin Hebrew School meets on Sundays for children ages 5 - 13.  Our program features warm and professional teachers and the most advanced textbooks and methodologies available.  Our Youth and Program Directors, Rabbi Chaim Ozer and Racheli Metal, have years of experience in providing innovative and stimulating programs that reach children of all backgrounds and ability levels. Individual tutoring is available when needed.

We are proud of our achievements in the field of Jewish supplementary education.  We think our program is the best Jewish experience your child can have.  But don't take our word for it — come and see our school in action.  Feel free to call us if we can be of further assistance to you.

At Chabad Hebrew School every student is special and is encouraged to contribute and participate in each lesson, activity and discussion. Chabad Hebrew School has an exciting and enjoyable program.  Through fun and crafts, songs and stories, trips and activities, the children will travel through their history, learn about and grow to love their Jewish heritage. They will also receive a firm foundation in Hebrew language and literacy.

Beginning with letter recognition for our youngest children, this program leads them through phonetic decoding, reading comprehension and writing. Age appropriate textbooks and workbooks will be completed throughout the year.

 Torah (Bible) and Jewish History

The children are introduced to the characters and stories of the Bible. They are given an overview of Jewish history starting with creation to the giving of the Torah to modern day Israel.

Hands-on lessons on each Jewish holiday will fill the calendar as we proceed from Rosh Hashanah and the High Holidays through the holiday of Shavuot. The students will have a deeper understanding of each holiday, traditions and customs. CJC Hebrew School will also host holiday celebrations for our students and their families.

 Jewish Values and Ethics

Using various textbooks the students will read and discuss stories and case scenarios that have practical application to our every day life. They will understand that our religion is based on G‑d given set of values and morals.

Mitzvot: Why We Do What We Do

Why do women light Shabbat candles? Why is Shabbat such a special day in the week? Why do we have a Mezuzah on our doors? This class will teach basic Mitzvot and provide insightful meaning of more complex Mitzvot.

 Arts and Crafts

Art projects are incorporated into our curriculum to add to the excitement to the upcoming holidays and Mitzvot. Our projects will have Jewish holiday and Mitzvot themes and will add a taste of Jewish life at home. The younger students will be doing art more often than the older grades.
